Miracles Virgin's Well in Manaoag
MANAOAG–Devotees, especially the sick, have started to head for the Virgin's Well in Barangay Pugaro here for observance of the Holy Week.
The water from the well, which devotees collect, is believed to have healing powers.
Thousands of devotees usually arrive in big numbers from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, much more than the average daily number of visitors to the site.
The family of Daniel Casabar, 86, from Barangay Poblacion in Pozorrubio town, owns the 56-hectare lot where the Virgin's Well is situated and the public has been allowed free access to it over the years.
In an interview with The PUNCH, Casabar shared the story of how the well came to be blessed.
During the Spanish era, he narrates, his father, Cirilo, was roused one night from his sleep because of a bright light coming from the well.
Old folks' tales claim Cirilo also saw the Virgin Mary at the well.
Since then, many have testified to have been healed by the water from the well.
Those who have bathed or drank water from the well claim to being healed from their ailments.
A certain Mrs. Victoria was among those healed and as an expression of her gratitude, she donated money for the construction of the stations of the cross around the well.
Another believer based in Guam donated money for the construction of the grotto.
Casabar has emphasized they are not selling the water and there is no fee to enter the site, but donations will not be declined.
"I feel blessed with this well and I am happy to see people healed after they come here. Perhaps it was due to their strong faith also to Mama Mary," he said.#
